The Ultimate Northern Lights Chase from Tromsø

This guided Northern Lights chase begins in Tromsø at the Northern Norway Travel Shop, where you’ll meet your local guide for a short Aurora Borealis presentation and safety briefing. Based on real-time forecasts, your group will then head out in a minibus towards clear skies—sometimes crossing the border into Finland.

Depending on the evening’s weather, the drive can range from 40 minutes to 2.5 hours. Once the ideal viewing spot is reached, your guide will offer you hot drinks & snacks. There, you’ll wait in comfort under the Arctic sky for potential sightings of the northern lights.

Throughout the evening, your guide will be available to assist with cameras and capture digital portraits. After 48hours you will receive an email with the website link to get this photos for an extra fee. After the tour, you’ll be dropped off at your central Tromsø accommodation.

Meeting time is 19:15h at Tromsø Havn Prostneset (ground floor, opposite Clarion The Edge). Dress warmly with layered winter clothing. Bring water, your camera, and ID in case the tour enters Finland. This is a chase tour, and the destination varies depending on weather. The northern lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed. Minimum 5 participants required. The only toilet stop is at the start of the tour.
