Learn the basics of cross‑country skiing in a scenic arctic setting, starting early in Tromsø. After instruction, embark on a guided ski through snowy landscapes, then warm up by the fire with hot drinks and cake, and meet huskies at our basecamp before returning to town.
Your day begins in Tromsø city center, from where a comfortable bus ride (~ 50 minutes) brings you to our basecamp in Breivikeidet. On arrival, your guide will provide all necessary gear — skis, poles, boots — as well as thermal suits, mittens, hats and winter boots to keep you warm.
We start with an introduction to the fundamentals: how to walk in skis, how to put them on, how to fall safely and get up again. Once you feel confident, your guide will lead you along snowy trails through Arctic scenery, passing views of the Lyngen Alps and the coast.
Afterward, step into a lavvu (Sami tent) to warm up by the fire with hot beverages and cake. You’ll also have the chance to visit our dog yard, meet ~80 huskies and perhaps pet them. Finally, you’ll be driven back to Tromsø with new skills and great memories.
Meeting time for the Early Bird departure is 07:55 at Tromsø Havn Prostneset (main entrance hall), Samuel Arnesens gate 5, Tromsø.
The tour runs from 08:10 to 12:40 (4.5 hours).
Minimum age is 7 years — please inform us of any children’s ages at booking so we can prepare appropriately.
